D.I.Y. Ruffle Bookmark/Wrap

Like almost everything else on this blog, I pinned these beauties a few months ago and have only just got around to making them. They were really simple and it took me less than an hour to make my first one…

I originally got the idea from craftsnob.com (ho, ho, ho) and had a bunch of ribbon lying around so I thought I’d give it a go. All you need is the following:

1. Ribbon

2. Elastic (I used white ¼ inch elastic)

3. A needle and thread (and pins).

I picked a generic sized paper back as a guide to how long I needed to make the thing and didn’t cut the ribbon to size until I’d finished the ruffle part as I had no idea how much it would take up…

So the first thing you need to do is create your ruffle by folding the ribbon back on itself and pinning it each time…

Then you just sew (I did it by hand because half of my sewing machine is missing) right up the middle – I used a back stitch. Once you get to the end, you need to attach your elastic – I went over this a number of times to make sure it didn’t ping off when stretched over a book… Ta Daaa!

And my favourite….. 🙂
