Tyred Old Pouf

One day I came across an old tyre in the field where I take the pooch for a mooch and decided to bring Sam back the next day to lug it back to the car. After much Pinteresting, I decided to have a go at Up-Cycling it into a rope covered ottoman.

The basic idea was taken from this tutorial here at handimania.com.

In addition to the rope, I decided to add a bit of padding to the top as anyone who has been to our house knows, we are a little short on seats! I also decided to have a go at doing some applique on the cushion after some inspiration from ’The Great British Sewing Bee’ 🙂

The cushion part was dead easy to upholster and since it’s such a snug fit/nestled in the rope, there were no need for staples so it’s interchangeable and easy to wash…How practical am I??

You can’t see from the photos (strategically done!) but I ran out of rope about 3 inches form the bottom of the tyre, so I’ll be needing to order some more of that – I used about 30m up to that point!

Since we were planning on using it as a seat, I also decided to add castors to the base – also makes it a lot easier to lug around!
